Description

Triptofem®

(triptoreline-acetaat)

Triptofem® contains triptorelin, which is a synthetic version of the natural “gonadotropin-releasing” hormone (GnRH). GnRH regulates the release of so-called “gonadotropins” (sex hormones; luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)). Triptofem® blocks the effect of GnRH. As a result, the levels of LH and FSH will decrease (so-called “down” regulation). This prevents premature ovulation.

When medically assisted reproduction techniques are applied, ovulation may sometimes occur too early. This significantly reduces the chances of pregnancy. This drug is used for down-regulation and prevention of a premature LH spike that may lead to premature ovulation.

Triptofem® is available as an injection fluid in a disposable, single-use syringe. It is subcutaneously injected into the abdomen.
